GW caught up with James, The New Union Newest Manager earlier this week and got to have a quickie with him.

We spoke about the future of The New Union; He said The New Union is not just a pub, its a part of the community  its the people of Wakefield that make it what it is, I plan to work with Mesmac, Pride and Gay Wakefield to help promote the scene, community and the interest of the people of Wakefield. I’m not going to come in changing everything  but build on the work done by so many amazing people. And I’m always willing to listen to ideals, this is your pub, have your say!

To get everyone to know him abit more, we asked him a few quick questions.

1.) If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?
Follow you dreams, nothing is impossable, if you believe in it, it will come to be, no matter what your race, gender or sexuality

2.) If you could have a room full of any one thing, what would it be?
My beloved ps3, internet and tons of games haha smile

3.) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Wish I wasn’t so shy, although people seem to like it, hate being quiet because my personality isnt!

4.) What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?
I dreamed of running my own pub, I wanted a gay pub because its where I feel comfortable. Its such good fun and meet amazing people

5.) What is the best advice you’ve ever given and received?
Follow your heart, and your instincts, they never let you down or mislead you.

6.) What is your greatest regret?
Not realising how much I loved a certain person until they were gone

7.) What is your biggest achievement?
The New Union, its my passion. I have fallen in love with the place and all the amazing staff and well I cant say customers, friends I have met, and am sure there are many more to come !

8.) If you could date anyone who would it be?
Cant really answer that, as its more about the personal qualities I look for!

9.) Are you gay?
I am gay, only accepted and came out 5 years ago, best thing I ever did, feel like I can be who I am, never felt so alive, wasn’t easy thought people would have a problem with it esp my parents, I was lucky. As long as I was happy that was all that mattered. And my life finally began, closet is a very lonely place.
