mot-yorkshiremesmacYorkshire MESMAC’s New STI MOT service, launching Saturday 6th July, is the friendly and convenient way to get your regular sexual health check up out of the way. Just drop-in to our Calder Vale offices in Wakefield on the first Saturday of the month between 12pm and 3pm.

A pin prick of blood, a twenty minute wait and our award winning HIV testing service could tell you your HIV status. A nurse from Terrence Higgins Trust will then be on hand to complete your screen and provide Hep B inoculations if necessary. Your complete screen could include Syphilis, Hep B, Hep C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and HIV.

For more information, or to book a HIV test at a time convenient to you, contact Mark Tyson on 07955 005 113 or 01924 211 116. Suite 1 Trinity Buildings, Calder Vale Rd WF1 5PE.

Remember, if you have any symptoms you should make an appointment directly with The Josephine Butler Centre for Sexual Health, 47 King Street WF1 2SN, ring 01924 542921 or 01924 542922.

Sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates have been skyrocketing among men who have sex with men (MSM) in England. New gonorrhoea cases rose by 60% in 2011 and 37% in 2012.*

Using condoms properly reduces your risk of infection but STIs can be spread despite condom use through oral sex. Routine check ups are the only way to get the peace of mind that you don’t have anything and haven’t unknowingly passed an infection on.

A third of gay and bisexual men have never had a sexual health check up.**

And having an STI puts you at increased risk of HIV; or, if you’re HIV positive already, at increased risk of passing HIV on?

For more information about STIs visit our website: mesmac.co.uk/resources

To access our free condom and lube postal packs for gay and bisexual men in West and North Yorkshire, fill in the online form at: mesmac.co.uk/confidoms
Please note we can provide condoms in snug fit, regular, extra large and latex free varieties. Let us know which you require, how many and how often.
